Description

Marble Sounds はエレクトロバンド、Plastic Operator の片割れである Pieter Van Dessel 率いるバンドである。2007年、カナダのモントリオールに彼が滞在していた頃に、Marble Sounds としての活動を始めた。４曲入りのEP “A Painting Or A Spill” では Pinback、The Notwist、Eels にも通じる真っ直ぐな哀愁を漂わせ、優美な音の層の中にも、どこかほろ苦い切なさを感じさせる。’Redesign’ という曲は Belgian national radio (Radio 1, StuBru)で注目を浴び、BBC DJ Steve Lamacq にもピックアップされた。

ベルギーに戻った Van Dessel は、Gianni Marzo (Isbells)、 Frederik Bastiaensen (ex-General Mindy)、 Christophe Vandewoude、 Johan De Coster (Soon)と共にバンドはまとまった。数週間のうちに、Marble Sounds は Why?、Micah P. Hinson、HRSTA、Keith Caputo (Life of Agony)のオープニングを務める事となった。そして Devendra Banhart、The Dodos、Bill Callahan、Mark Kozelek と共に名を連ね、Chapter Music よりリリースされた Kath Bloom のトリビュート・アルバム “Loving Takes This Course” にも参加を果たしている。

本作にはゲストボーカルとして Robert Pollard (Guided by Voices) を迎え、’Sky High’ という楽曲では東京のシンガーソングライター、清水美和子 (Predawn) と共に曲を書き上げた。
